Kings XI Punjabs Squad
Now, let`s analyze the team combination, squad strength, and different player options available in the Kings XI Punjab team. Kings XI Punjab always had star power with excellent players in both batting and bowling departments but failed to make a mark with their results so far.
Captain: KL Rahul
KL Rahul is earmarked as the next big thing in the Indian Cricket and he had an excellent last couple of years in the IPL 2018 & 2019 seasons with the bat scoring 600+ runs. He will take up the additional responsibility of leading the side too this season.
Batsmen: Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Ahmed
Chris Gayle is the Universal boss in the T20 format with most runs, centuries, and any records with the bat in hand. Mayank Agarwal, Mandeep Singh, Karun Nair, and Sarfaraz are the young Indian players who have vast experience in the IPL ranks and are the pillars of their middle-order batting.
All-rounders: Krishnappa Gowtham, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, James Neesham, Harpreet Brar, Tajinder Singh
Krishnappa Gowtham and Deepak Hooda are spin bowling all-rounders who can pack a punch in the lower order. Glenn Maxwell can be their X-factor in their middle order and can give some handy overs in slow tracks of UAE. James Neesham is added in this year`s auction to increase the depth of their attack. Harpreet Brar and Tajinder Singh are batting all-rounders who will fit in as reserve players.
Wicket-Keepers: Nicholas Pooran, Simran Singh
Nicholas Pooran is an aggressive middle-order batsman from Caribbean soil who can keep wickets too. Simran Singh will be the back-up keeper option in the team.
Bowlers: Ishan Porel, Chris Jordan, Mohammed Shami, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Sheldon Cottrell, Murugan Ashwin, Jagadeesha Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardus Viljoin, Darshan Nalkande
Indian pacer Mohammed Shami is expected to lead the pace attack of the team with young Ishan Porel and Darshan Nalkande being the other two pace bowlers for the company. They have a host of international pace bowlers with Hardus Viljoin, Sheldon Cottrell, and Chris Jordan up their sleeves. Mujeeb will be their premier spinner of the team. Murugan Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, and Jagadeesa Suchith will have a big role to play in this season in the slow tracks of UAE.
Best possible XI
KL Rahul (C & Wk), Chris Gayle, Mayank Agarwal, Glenn Maxwell, Krishnappa Gowtham, Mandeep Singh, Mohammed Shami, Chris Jordan, Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Murugan Ashwin, Ishan Porel
Remaining Players: Sheldon Cottrell, Jagadeesha Suchith, Ravi Bishnoi, Hardus Viljoin, Darshan Nalkande, Nicholas Pooran, Simran Singh, Deepak Hooda, James Neesham, Harpreet Brar, Tajinder Singh, Karun Nair, Sarfaraz Ahmed
Kings XI Punjab`s IPL 2020 Prediction
Kings XI Punjab`s biggest strength this year has been their batting line-up with quality batsmen who can score runs at a good pace. They have players who are capable of constructing the innings and batsmen who can berserk from the ball one too. They have excellent depth in their batting and bowling department with all-rounders in the lower middle order. They don’t have an experienced Indian pacer in their team barring Mohammed Shami and their spin attack relies heavily on the likes of Mujeeb and Murugan Ashwin, and Gowtham. They have added Chris Jordan to address the death bowling issues but still, they lack a good bowler to support him at the other end. We expect the Kings XI Punjab to end their season in the group phases of the IPL2020 season owing to the lack of Indian pacers and KL Rahul`s debut captaincy stint this season.
Top players to bet on
- KL Rahul – Quality opening batsmen and skipper
- Glenn Maxwell – Middle-order batsmen & spin bowler
- Chris Gayle – Universal Boss & mighty hitter
- Chris Jordan – Pace bowler who can vary the pace
- Mujeeb Ur Rehman – Premium spinner for the team
