Rattled Spurs eye comeback win against high-flying Everton (2020-07-06)
English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur will face Everton in the matchday 33 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Monday.
The home team will come in the match as underdogs after suffering a shocking 3-0 defeat in their previous match against Sheffield United.
That result left Tottenham on the 10th position of the league table with just 45 points after 32 matches, 12-behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
Tottenham’s recent form must be a great cause of concern for manager Jose Mourinho as his team have suffered five defeats in last nine matches in all competitions which included just a single win which came against West Ham United on June 24.
Therefore, the former Real Madrid manager will be hoping to see his players turn up and produce a positive result which would push them as high as eighth in the league table.
On the other hand, Everton will come in the match with a feel-good factor after managing to win back-to-back games against Leicester City and Norwich City.
After a poor beginning to the league campaign, Everton have seen resurgence under new manager Carlo Ancelotti as they are now placed on the 11 position of the Premier League table with 44 points after 32 games.
Head to Head
In previous meetings between the clubs, it is clear advantage to Tottenham Hotspur who have emerged victorious on 19 occasions whereas they suffered just seven defeats and 16 games ended in a stalemate.
In the previous meeting which took place earlier in the league campaign on November 03, 2019, the game ended in a 1-1 draw, courtesy an injury-time equalizer from Everton’s Cenk Tosun. In the last eight meetings between the teams, Spurs have managed to secure four victories whereas four games ended as a draw.
Players to watch out for
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Harry Kane is undoubtedly the most high-profile player in the Tottenham Hotspur squad. The England international is once again the leading scorer for Tottenham in the ongoing campaign after managing to score 19 times in 28 appearances in all competitions, out of which 13 came in the Premier League.
With the club in dire need of a positive result, manager Mourinho will be hoping that his talisman will rise to the occasion and produce the goods for the team which can help them in registering three important points on Monday.
Richarlison (Everton)
Richarlison is Everton’s star performer in the attacking department from the last two campaigns. The Brazil international is having a very good season on the personal level where he has already netted 13 times and provided four assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.
The 23-year-old was by far Everton’s best player in their 2-1 win against Leicester in which he scored the opener as well which was his first goal in five league matches. With European football in sight, manager Ancelotti will be hoping to see his star performer produce another stellar performance to keep Everton in the race to cement a spot in the Europa League next season.
Prediction
Looking at both team’s recent form, the prediction for the game is a 1-1 draw.
