West Indies tour of England 2020: England Vs West Indies, Second test

Winners Prediction

West Indies played superbly to win the first test match against England in English conditions. England has been a quality team in their home conditions, and we expect them to bounce back and win this Test match at Old Trafford. Return of their full-time skipper Joe Root will boost the team`s morale.

Pitch Conditions: The pacers are expected to have great success at Old Trafford than the spinners. We expect good batting conditions for the first 2-3 days of the match. Both teams will look to post a big first innings score.

Toss Prediction: Batting first is the best option in the Test matches unless there are overcast conditions. We expect both captains to bat first in this pitch as batting last will be a tough task.

Predicted Playing XI

Joe Root & Stuart Broad will comeback into the playing XI at the expense of Joe Denly and Mark Wood.

ENGLAND: Joe Root (C), Jos Buttler (Wk), Zak Crawley, Dominic Sibley, Ollie Pope, Ben Stokes, James Anderson, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Dominic Bess, Rory Burns

West Indies will like to have the same winning combination unless there is an injury concern. Shannon Gabriel and John Campbell are expected to be fit after suffering injury in the first test match.

WEST INDIES: Jason Holder (C), Shai Hope (Wk), John Campbell, Kraigg Brathwaite, Roston Chase, Alzarri Joseph, Kemar Roach, Shannon Gabriel, Shamarh Brooks, Shane Dowrich, Jermaine Blackwood

  • England have now lost the opening match of their last 5 Test series.
  • West Indies last won an away series against England in 1988.
  • England has never lost the series in their last 11 series with 7 wins & 4 drawn series after 2014.

Players to Bet on:

  1. Ben Stokes – Ben Stokes played a superbly in the first Test match with 40s in both innings and taking 6 wickets with the ball. He will look to make a big score after missing out in the first test despite getting starts.
  2. Joe Root – Joe Root returns to the team in this match and England team will depend heavily on him in the batting department. He is under pressure to level the series and not allow West Indies to win this match.
  3. Jofra Archer – Jofra Archer was fired up in the second innings and picked up 3 crucial wickets after ending up wicket-less in first innings. He also scored a vital 24 runs with the bat on the last day to set West indies a target of 200.

  1. Jason Holder – Jason holder won the battle marshalling his troops brilliantly. His 6-wicket haul in the first innings put their team in the driver`s seat. He also dismissed his counterpart Ben Stokes in both the innings.
  2. Jermaine Blackwood – Blackwood answered his critics with a brilliant 95 runs in the second innings that helped West indies win the match. He will look to continue his good form and score more runs for the team consistently.
  3. Shannon Gabriel – Gabriel was awarded Man of the Match for his 9 wickets in the match. Gabriel was unplayable at times with the pace and bounce he created. Gabriel disturbed the woodwork of English Batsmen five times in the first test.
