Let us have a small discussion about what has worked and what has not worked for the teams so far in the two weeks and about the possible options for them in the coming days.

Mumbai has two dominating wins in the 2 matches and is currently at top with 4 points and good NRR. Rohit lead from the front in both their victories with 80 & 70 runs respectively. Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Ishan Kishan have come up with good performances and are looking good in the middle order. Quinton De Kock`s form is the only worry in the batting line-up. Trent Boult, James Pattinson, and Rahul Chahar have been excellent with the ball claiming 17 wickets amongst themselves so far. Jasprit Bumrah has been blowing hot and cold in this season so far.

Delhi Capitals won their first match in a super-over contest with an excellent all-round display from Marcus Stoinis with bat and ball. They out batted CSK comfortably in the second match with Prithvi Shaw scoring runs. Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rishab pant have scored 20s & 30s and are yet to post a good score this season. Shimron Hetmyer has been poor with the bat and catching so far. Kagiso Rabada has been their star performer with 7 wickets in 3 matches with Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma, and Mohit Sharma playing the support act. Amit Mishra and Axar Patel have held the spin attack superbly after the absence of Ravi Ashwin due to his injury in the first match.

Kolkata Knight Riders shrugged off their defeat in the first match by winning two back-to-back matches. Shubman Gill and Eoin Morgan have been their chief run scorers this season. Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, and Dinesh Karthik are yet to make a mark with the bat this season. Sunil Narine is having a tough season with both bat and ball so far. Pat Cummins showed his class with superb bowling figures in the last two matches after taking a beating in the first match. Indian bowlers Shivam Mavi, Kamlesh Nagarkoti, and Varun Chakravarthy have been excellent with the ball this season and they will look continue with their 6-bowler strategy with Narine, Russell, and Cummins playing all-round roles.

Rajasthan royals marched in Royal fashion with batting might against their opponents at Sharjah. But their hangover of the first two matches came back to bite them in Dubai. Steve Smith and Sanju Samson have scored the bulk of runs while Jos Buttler is yet to make a mark. Rahul Tewatia played a blinder of an innings to lead them to victory against KXIP. Their batting looks weak outside the top-3 is a big concern for the team. Jofra Archer is bowling thunderbolts at 150+ clicks and hitting sixes at will at the death. Tom Curran, Rahul Tewatia, and Ankit Rajpoot have been good with the ball but will need to improve a lot in the economy rate. Shreyas Gopal and Jaydev Unadkat should make to make more contributions with the ball. They have a lot to fix in their playing XI despite 2 wins in 3 matches.

RCB has won 2 matches including a super-over win over MI so far. Devdutt Padikkal, Aaron Finch, and AB De Villiers have made half-centuries with the bat and lead the team in the batting department. Skipper Kohli is yet to shine and is just one big innings away from hitting form. Navdeep Saini has been their find of the season so far in the bowling department. Washington Sundar and Yuzi Chahal have performed their bowling roles perfectly so far. Death bowling still an issue for RCB as they are leaking runs at 14 RPO in the last 5 overs. Chris Morris might be a good solution for their woes albeit his fitness permitting.

KXIP openers Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are inching each other in the orange cap race and are the only two players to score a century this season. Nicholas Pooran has played some good cameos with the bat and made headlines for his stunning save in the field. Glenn Maxwell, Karun Nair, and James Neesham are yet to make good runs. Bowling has been their biggest worry, especially at the death as they have leaked runs at over 15+ RPO. They need to add an all-rounder as the 5-bowler strategy including Neesham is not working for them. And Rahul has made some tactical errors like bowling Gowtham`s 20th over against Mi, Maxwell`s over in death against RR.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won their first game after losing 2 matches in a row. David Warner, Manish Pandey, and Johnny Bairstow have scored more than 60% runs for the team. Kane Williamson played his first match against DC and made an impact with his 26-ball 44 runs down the order. They lack batting depth outside top-4 and they also take 3 foreign players slot. Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan were brilliant with the ball to defend 163 runs last night. T Natarajan has impressed everyone with his Yorkers at the death. Khaleel Ahmed and Abhishek Sharma have been leaking runs in the bowling department.  Jason holder came in as a replacement for Mitchell marsh after the season`s start.

CSK finds themselves at the bottom of the table after their 6-day break. They started with a good win over rivals MI in the opening match but succumbed to losses in the next two matches. Faf Du Plessis and Ambati Rayudu were the only players to have batted with intent this season although the latter missed 2 matches due to injury. Batting line-up needs to be sorted with no steam at the top order. Bowlers Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood, and Deepak Chahar have fared better going for runs at less than 8 RPO. Piyush Chawla has picked up crucial wickets but has cost the team a few runs in middle overs. Ravindra Jadeja has been struggling with his bowling going for runs in all 3 matches. Dwayne Bravo, Imran Tahir, and Ambati Rayudu might come into the playing XI in this week`s matches which will be a big boost for CSK.
